Here is the schedule for this year’s Fun Day (subject to change)

What to expect, when you’re expecting

…to go to Fun Day that is.  We are very excited to once again be hosting Fun Day in downtown San Diego.  Some things have changed a little regarding the Stations and the Booth layout.

Fun Day Layout

The heart of the event is happening at Embarcardero North.  This is where people and clubs can setup their EZ-Ups (NO STAKES!!), blankets and chairs.  Registration will be at the edge of the roundabout as you enter the Designated Parking Area as it was last year, just moved up a bit.  All of the Booths, Silent Auction, Attendee Area, and some of the Stations are taking place in the Embarcadero.

All Stations, Booths, and Auction open at 10:00 am (Registration opens at 9:00 am) and close at 1:00 pm.  Feel free to arrive a little earlier if you like so you can setup your space in the Attendee Area.  We will have some brief opening remarks at 9:50 am, and at 10:00 am you can get started.

Puppy Passport

This year you will have a Passport to get stamped showing you’ve completed each Station.  Once you have all 9 stations stamped, turn your passport in at the Cashier to be eligible for a chance to win 1 of 5 door prizes.  The Door Prize Drawing will happen at 2:15 pm

Parking

Your parking voucher will be attached to your registration bag when you pick it up at the event.  You must place it on your dashboard or you will get towed.  The Port Authority will be checking all vehicles during the event, and will tow if the voucher is not present.

If you did not purchase a parking voucher, you are welcome to drive up in the roundabout, drop off your tents, chairs, etc., then proceed to park in the metered parking at Seaport Village.

Tents and Ez-Ups

You are welcome to setup your tents and Ez-Ups in the designated grass area.  However you CANNOT USE STAKES.  STAKES ARE NOT ALLOWED.  They may damage the irrigation system.  You can only use weights to hold down your tents/ez-ups.  Again NO STAKES, only weights.  Did I forget to mention NO STAKES.

Lunches

If you purchased a Lunch ticket they will be in your registration bags.  You may redeem them at any of the participating restaurants that are located in the Food Court area for the specified meal.  If you did not purchase a lunch voucher then you are on your own, but you can elect to eat at the same restaurants or the others located in Seaport Village.  Be sure to time your lunch appropriately so you do not miss the close of the Silent Auction or the Puppy Truck delivery.

The Silent Auction

The Auction opens at 10:00 am and closes at 1:45 pm.  Once the Auction is closed you can gather your winning item bid sheets and head to the cashier.  We will have 2-3 people (or more) ready to process your payments so hopefully the lines will be quicker than years past.  If you elect to win an item using the Buy it Now bid, then you can Take it Now and pay for it immediately. No waiting until the end of the Auction to purchase.

Payments

You can pay by Credit and Debit Cards!  We will be using PayPal to process payments using iPads and iPhones, and we can even email or text you a receipt.  Of course we will also be accepting payments by cash and check.

Puppy truck

Unfortunately we will not have the Puppy Truck this year.  Since we changed the date of the event one week later in April, we are not aligned with the Puppy Truck schedule this year.

However, we would still like to take a group picture of the event participants. So just be sure to listen for announcements for when to gather up and smile.

Where to hang out

We have been getting several questions about where to setup base camp for your group, or if there will be an area to setup tents, chairs, kennels, etc.  The quick answer is yes, there is a spot picked out for you to hang your hat and you can see the general area in the map – Attendees & Clubs (click for larger image).

You are welcome to bring chairs, kennels, etc for you to use and relax in.  If you plan on using tents or EZ-Ups there is only one requirement…NO STAKES.  You can only use weights to hold down your EZ-Ups.  We have been told the Port Authority will come by and be checking.  The reason is simple, they do not want any stakes to potentially hit a break one if their underground irrigation pipes that water the lawn.  So NO STAKES, bring something else to hold down your fort like this.

Designated Parking

Don’t fight trying to find a parking spot.  We have reserved our own parking lot for the event at Embarcadero Marina Park North.  Use the address:

400 Kettner Blvd.
San Diego, CA

This will take you directly to the parking lot.  The cost is a flat rate of $10 for the day.  This is optional and completely up to you if you want it.  If not then you can use the metered parking lots at Seaport Village, which will cost more than the flat rate of $10.

The event registration, silent auction and puppy truck will be at this parking lot, and the hub of the event.  All the event stations and surfaces will be at North Embarcadero and Seaport Village.

If the Designated Parking is sold out, there are alternatives.  Go to Parkopedia, enter in where you are going (Seaport Village), and the date and time and Parkopedia will give parking options around the area and pricing.
